In my opinion, 1984 was the best year in hip hop until it got really great in 1987. Four of my top 6 albums from before 1987 come from 1984, including the only album from the period that I give a rating of 5/5, Run-D.M.C.'s self-titled debut. What sets this album apart from the rest of the albums of 1984 is the chemistry between Run, D.M.C., and Jam Master Jay. There's not one weak song on the album, and "Sucker M.C.s" is one of my top 5 hip hop songs of all-time.
