LL Cool J has fallen off more than any other rapper, but from 1985 to the early 90s, he was near the top of the game. 1985 had some good albums, but none of them were on the same level as "Radio". The thing that made "Radio" so great back then was the variety of topics he rapped about, all of which were highly relatable to his target audience, and gave insight of the culture to people outside of the culture. It also helped that Rick Rubin produced the album.
