I could have also nominated this album in the folk category, but I decided not to nominate albums for more than one category. The album is a little more folk than country, but it went here because I was stretching to find country albums, and while there were a few better folk albums this year, Slaid Cleaves' excellent songwriting made this an easy choice among the other albums I considered country.
